Bill Jennings is planning to marry Amie who works at The Birdcage. However, his 18 year old son Gabe who Bill has never seen arrives. Lily is suspicious of Gabe's actions and alerts Troop who arrests Gabe after he learns Gabe plans to kill his father. Gabe believes Bill deserted him and his mother in St. Louis. His mother has died and Gabe believes Bill is at fault. Bill refuses to press charges and tells Troop after making him promise not to tell Gabe that in fact his wife left him while pregnant with another man and went to St. Louis. Troop escorts Gabe out of Laramie but Gabe returns to kill Bill after his wedding. Troop is forced to shoot the rifle out of Gabe's hands and tells him he will find that Bill was always in Laramie and never abandoned Gabe and his mother in St. Louis forcing Gabe to confront the truth.
